Gladiators was an Australian television series which aired on the Seven Network in 2008. It was a revival of the earlier series of the same name, and was based on the American version of the show, which was also revived in 2008. The show was filmed at The Dome at the Sydney Showground, and was hosted by Tom Williams and Zoe Naylor. Well known NRL referee Bill Harrigan was one of the two referees for the show, the other was John Forsythe, who was a referee on the original series. Although not credited, the Sydney Altitude Cheerleaders were present in every episode, doing various routines throughout each episode whether an event was taking place or not. Behind the scenes, highly respected military fitness expert 'Chief' Brabon was responsible for preparing the gladiators for their extremely physical roles. The revival of Gladiators was first announced on 9 September 2007, and premiered on 30 March 2008 at 6:30 pm. The Challengers in this series competed to win A$50,000 and a new Subaru Forester. No official announcement was made by the Seven Network as per the future plans for the series.

The Australian version of the show premiered on 29 January 2007 at 8:30 pm on the Nine Network and is recorded in the Melbourne Docklands Central City Studios. The format of the Australian show is based on series 2 of the US show. The prize ladder is half the value of the US ladder, with a single million-dollar jackpot for eliminating all 100 players. A second season of the show started airing on Friday, 6 June 2008 to 13 June 2008, but it was put on hiatus then cancelled.

High Rollers is an American television game show that involved players trying to win prizes by rolling dice. The format was based on the dice game Shut the Box. High Rollers debuted on July 1, 1974 as part of NBC's daytime lineup. In September 1975, an accompanying series was launched in syndication and aired once weekly on local stations. Both of these series ended in 1976, with the daytime series ending on June 11, 1976. Alex Trebek, referred to on air as "the man with the action", was the host for these series. On April 24, 1978, NBC brought High Rollers back with Trebek hosting and aired it until June 20, 1980 when it was one of three series cancelled to make room for The David Letterman Show. The series was produced by Heatter-Quigley Productions

It's a Knockout was the Australian adaption of the UK gameshow of the same name. Teams were divided into Australian states: New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), Queensland (QLD) and South Australia (SA). Teams would compete in silly races, games and challenges often with larger than life characters and obstacles courses to compete over.
