SIMPATICI is a sitcom based on the life of the Cassar family, their neighbours and colleagues at work. The father, Joe, is an accountant with a private Auditors Company. Dora, his wife, is a manageress with an exclusive house of fashion known in Europe and America. Joe and Dora are the parents of Ruth the eldest and Jason, two modern, polite and intelligent teen-agers. Along with the family lives Dora’s mother, Katrin, a kind-hearted granny. Their close neighbour Lieni, is a spinster who tries her best to wins the heart of bachelor Salvu, Katrin’s brother who has just returned from migration in the United States. Joe’s colleagues at work have different characters: Alan is a charming lad, always ready for a good joke, Gwido speaks a little but eats a lot, Petra is the target of most of the office jokes while Mr. Callus, the manager, is a leader at work but a victim with his own wife. Dora has a personal secretary, Joyce, who is much more a friend than a colleague.

Benjamin Sultana dies in a fire while attempting to save a woman that he saw in a window. When he wakes up, he finds out that he is now a ghost. He then meets Donna Amelia ( the woman that he saw in the window) Emmanuel; a man who died in the second world war, Ciccio; the man who crashed into and accidentally killed Emmanuel, Gabel ; a man who died while hiding in a cupboard, Ludovigo; the former owner of the building and his wife Antoinette. Benjamin later finds out that Percival; the son of Ludovigo and Antoinette, burned down the former palace to get insurance money because he was bankrupt. Eventually the group meets some new ghosts and the story goes on.

Merjen tells the story of two childhood friends, who grow up to become lovers - a morbid relationship rooted in visceral sexual attraction, which quickly spirals into the dark realm of domestic abuse and leads to two vicious murders. With motherhood as its core theme, the story unfolds in the sordid back alleys and slums that are Merjen's world, as this broken yet fiery woman, an absent mother to her toddler Chris, is inexorably propelled towards ultimate tragedy.
