In the south of Tunisia, two football fan brothers bump into a donkey lost in the middle of the desert on the border of Algeria. Strangely, the animal wears headphones over its ears.

Twelve-year-old Noura dangles uncertainly in that difficult netherworld between childhood and adulthood. His growing libido has gotten him banned from the women's baths, where his mother took him when he was younger, but he's not yet old enough to participate in grown-up discussions with the men of his Tunisian village. Noura's only real friend is a troublemaker named Salih -- the village political outcast.

He had planned this evening with his friend Sboui but finds himself with his former boss because he is having marital problems. However, Béji receives a phone call from his wife and reconciles with her. Shortly after, Béji leaves to join his wife at her in-laws, leaving Fouchika alone.

In the Arab Muslim Tunisia, the film narrates the journey of a religious extremist who escapes from security forces and seeks shelter in the home of a prostitute who helps him deal with the situation despite their conflicting mindsets.

Habib takes his family on a trip across Tunisia, to Zarzis, Habib's native region, to spend the summer vacation together. He tries to beautify the image of his homeland and embellish the adventures but as the journey progresses by car they will be confronted with increasingly improbable situations.

The film is inspired by the famous Tunisian television series of the same name from the 1970s.
